I am overwhelmed by the self-improvement content out there

Can I, a consumer, do anything about it?

Learning is at my core. This is the reason I love self-help/self-improvement content so much. I often find myself mindlessly scrolling through TikTok and Instagram looking for the best apps to organize my life, as well as skimming through stories on this platform to find another idea for a side hustle.

And frankly speaking, the volume of self-help content overwhelms me quite a bit.

The other day, I published a story about my experience with “shiny object syndrome.” This is the real struggle that I face in this content proliferation age. There is an endless number of shiny objects for me to be distracted from my real goals.

This time last year, I skimmed through countless Medium stories trying to find the best self-improvement path that I could pick up in 2021. All of my energy was spent externally, tirelessly looking for an answer. But there is not one answer out there. There are thousands, millions even.

With the hope that I achieved some growth in this past year, I am changing my process of channeling self-improvement. Instead of mindlessly consuming self-help content, I want to observe my internal energy and only consume content that can increase and enhance it.

I want to create more, so I need to stop spending all of my energy on consumption. And that’s how I plan on preventing this content overwhelm.
